Christmas in Dol is a low key affair. Family celebrations are the important part of the festival.

With forest fires in many areas of the Mediterranean basin, I have been thinking of the preparations I need in case fire breaks on in the forest at the back of my home.
Any time from late January is blossom time in Dol. But another stunning tree in flower at this time of year is the Mimosa, Acacia dealbata
Even in winter we can see rainbows, as a fast moving rain storm clears, to be followed by sunshine.
I am alive to the natural world in which I live, observing the day to day changes as the seasons inexorably march forwards.
Where ever i am working, inside, outside or on the computer, I usually have one or more of the felines with me. Not always helping, sometimes playing, sometimes just watching, they seem to just enjoy being with me.
There are so many nice walks around the village, it is a shame that there is no authoritative guide for visitors to follow.
Very sadly Risha has passed away this week, aged 14 (76 human years), suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.
